Tina Tieu,16, is working to complete a documentary called “Keep In Mind,” that sheds light on people of color who struggle with mental health issues. The documentary follows five adolescents who are dealing with mental illness.
She was inspired to create the film because, as an Asian-American girl, Tieu has experienced firsthand the struggles people of color go through when dealing with mental illness. She was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder at age 13, and quickly encountered the many stigmas and stereotypes that accompany mental health.
Tieu’s documentary is not easy to create, and it’s going to cost her a lot of money. To help, she started a crowdfunding page so people can support her by donating money. Her goal is $3,300 and she is really close. Definitely check out her preview video above and read more about her on the website. If you want to support her by donating, make sure to ask your parents first!
