I’m so excited for 2016! It’s totally going to be MY year! I have a whole list of resolutions and I’m ready to get started. First, I’m tackling the closet. Every time I try to de-clutter my closet I end up keeping way too much. So, I’ve put together a list of some rules for closet de-cluttering and hopefully I end up making some progress!
Tip One: Get Organized
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by a crowded closet, so make sure you have a game plan. I like to label three boxes: Keep, Donate and Trash. Then, I like to go through the closet by small sections, so I don’t have all of my clothes lying around my room at once — talk about stressful!
Tip Two: The 1-Year Rule
You may have heard of this one before. Grab an item of clothing, and if you haven’t worn it in the past year, donate it. No exceptions!
Tip Three: Stay Motivated
A few hours into it, I’m usually ready to quit. It’s important to keep in mind why you’re doing this and what the outcomes will be. This way, you can stay motivated and even excited to keep going. I like to think about the people who will receive the clothes I donate.
Tip Four: Focus on the End Result
Once you’ve sorted your clothes, give the actual closet space a little T.L.C. Make it look nice with decorations, matching hangers and anything else you want to add to make it yours!
