Face Masks 101
Sometimes my skin is just not cooperating. So, when it’s feeling a little drab I like to give it a treatment – a face mask! Facemasks are a great way to rejuvenate your skin, whether it’s feeling dry, oily or just plain dirty. Now, there are so many facemasks for so many different uses, so, I’ll break it down for you guys.
The Traditional Facemask
There are two types of facemasks. The first is a traditional face mask, which is usually of a cream or gel consistency. These are easy to use. Just apply an even layer of the mask all over your skin and wait for however long the mask calls for, or until it’s dry. Then, wash it off and see how it has worked its magic!
The Sheet Mask
The second type is a sheet mask. This one is also super easy to maneuver. All you have to do is remove the sheet from the container it comes in and place it on your face for however long it calls for. The treatment is on the sheet, so it will work just as well as a regular facemask.
For Oily Skin
There are three main skin types, and a facemask to go with each condition. First, there are facemasks for oily skin, like this one from Origins. This mask has charcoal in it, which helps pull all the oils out of our pores. This is going to feel super dry and tight on the face, but it works like magic!
For Dry Skin
Next is dry skin. Dry skin is easy to treat – you could even just grab a super heavy moisturizer and set it on the skin for 5-7 minutes. But, there are also facemasks that are created just for dry skin, like this one from GLAMGLOW. This one in particular is manufactured without parabens, sulfates or phthalates, which is extra good so nothing can clog the pores.
For Combo Skin
Combination skin is difficult to deal with. Is it dry? Is it oily? Make up your mind! Believe it or not, there are actually facemasks out there for this exact condition, like this one from The Body Shop. Tee Tree oil is key here. It helps balance the skin by clearing pores and leaving the skin feeling cooled and refreshed.
Sometimes I just want to do a facemask for no reason other than my skin is tired. There are actual treatments for this! This one from First Aid Beauty is great at waking skin up and leaving it looking radiant and alive.
